Hiring and retaining good drivers is a top priority of the WLX management team. Company drivers and Owner-Operators alike say that working for WLX is more like being part of an extended family. Here are some candid comments from two of WLX’s All-Star drivers:

JANET HENDERSON, WLX COMPANY DRIVER SINCE 2006
Janet Henderson says that WLX is different than other companies she’s driven for because WLX cares more about their drivers.

“The company puts lots of time working with drivers and wants to make sure the drivers are taken care of,” Henderson says. “Prime examples are up-to-date equipment, good communication, good pay, and quality loads.”

Janet says she tells other truckers about how much she appreciates her dispatcher. “…my dispatcher works with me on getting me home, getting me in the freight lines I like to run. And he has a genuine concern for his drivers out on the road.”

The biggest benefit since becoming a WLX driver? Janet says that’s an easy one: “Home time.. home time! WLX makes sure you get home time—and I’m not forced back out as soon as I get in.”

PAUL MAYCROFT, WLX OWNER-OPERATOR SINCE 2006
A veteran driver, Paul Maycroft is glad he moved to WLX in 2006. He’s very happy with the management’s open-door policy when it comes to communicating with drivers. “(Vice President) Mike Murrell is available for questions and concerns from the drivers,” says Maycroft. “Management takes the time to spend with employees of the company.”

He, like Janet, talks up WLX to other drivers he meets on the road. “I tell drivers to come try WLX. (The company) has a great lease program, and the people you work with are very friendly. They want to see each driver succeed in making a quality living driving a truck.”

He agrees that WLX dispatchers do a great job of looking out for the company’s customers and drivers at the same time. “(My dispatcher) is always giving me great head hauls and finding me quality backhauls. I am not force-dispatched at any time, and he’s always available when I need to talk to him.”
